MEET TAOB

In the summer of 1999, a group of car aficionados indulged in one of the more exciting hobbies, R/C touring car racing. It all started out as a vision of two persons, Jennifer David and Ian Aquino, to form a group and eventually a team to participate in this booming genre. A visit to a local race prompted both to look into asking some of their friends if they will be interested in such a then-considered "childish play." (It is good to note that most of the group started out in weekly Saturday night bowling.) Coincidentally, a friend already bought a complete set of R/C equipment about a week before, and this prompted Jen and Ian to do the same. And from then on, the rest is what we now call our history.

DEFINING "TAOB"

The term "TAOB" was coined by one of our original members, Amiel Molina. In the beginning, it sounded ridiculous, and moreover, an obvious mockery of what happens during our practices and early races. "TAOB" is a tagalog word which translates to "flip" in the English language, and that's exactly what everyone was experiencing with their newly built cars. As a matter of fact, R/Cing for many of us became a little bit expensive than what was initially expected. With so many broken parts to repair or replace, and 90% of the group classified as rookies, the "TAOB" word eventually was accepted as a symbol for our group. And, thus, born a new team whose ideology is not so much on winning, but to be as a group having fun even if all else fails. "TAOB" also was a perfect choice for our team because of its English counterpart, "flip", which can also be used to define our identity. "Flip" is recognized as a slang for "Filipinos", our ethnic background. TAOB Racing Team... proud to be an all Filipino team...

GROUP PERSONALITY

The TAOB Racing Team currently comprise of 15 members. Some being active in races locally while others join the team when and if time permits them to. Among its roster of drivers are four female racers, this in fact is probably one aspect of uniqueness the team offers. Their whole racing crew truly is one of a kind.
